Town of Fulton voters reject referendum
No question about how Town of Fulton residents feel about spending more of their tax money on road maintenance.
Voters defeated a referendum Tuesday by a five-to-one margin, which asked to exceed state imposed spending limits. Town Chair Evan Sayre says repair costs are escalating much faster than state tax levy limits allow. He says the state has its head in the sand over costs and you can't get any help from them.
Sayre says without the additional revenue, the Township will not be able to replace roads according to recommended schedules.
