John McManus Jr., Presque Isle, WI/Janesville (2009)

On the morning of Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, John McManus Jr. passed away after a long illness at Aspirus hospital in Wausau, WI. John served as a Military Policeman, in both Europe and Southeast Asia, in the Army. He was a Janesville Policeman from 1970 to 1994, retiring as a Sergeant in the JPD Detective Bureau. He moved to Presque Isle Lake, WI, where he had fished as a young man. He ended his law career as a Municipal Judge for the Township of Presque Isle, WI. He loved his family, the law, his community, and tried to do the very best for all of them.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lois McManus; his mother, Shirley McManus of Downers Grove, IL; his brothers: James (Barb), Richard, and Geoff; his son, John (Gayle) McManus III; daughter, Suzanne (Toby) Vetting; and grandchildren, Eian and Piper Vetting.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Sr.
A remembrance gathering and interment will be in Presque Isle, with dates to be announced. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be sent in John’s name to the Presque Isle Fire and Rescue Squad, Presque Isle, WI 54557. As friends and neighbors, they were here when we needed them most.
