Jeanne Marguerite Prueher, Janesville (1921 - 2012)
February 11, 1921 - July 17, 2012
Jeanne Marguerite Prueher, age 91, of Janesville, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Huntington Place Memory Care, Janesville. Jeanne was born on Feb. 11, 1921, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Kernohan) Kuehne. Jeanne married Robert Prueher on Feb. 22, 1942, in Santa Rosa, CA. Jeanne was a strong and loving woman who usually spoke her mind and lived life with an unmatched energy and drive. She traveled cross-country on a train during WWII to marry Bob on a 24-hour pass; she nursed him back to health after catastrophic war injuries; she supported their kids in all their music and theater endeavors; and she was the party planner extraordinaire. Simply put, she was the family’s engine: she made things happen. Skilled in many arts and crafts, she created ceramic figurines and other items, made extra money by baking cakes, helped many productions and church groups with costumes and gag awards, and was an excellent cook. She was also a voracious card and games-player, making opponents earn every point. Her love for Bob, the kids and her extended family, though, was the core of her well-lived life. Her life-long love affair with her husband covered their nearly 69 years of marriage and beyond, serving as a wonderful example for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Sue (Ted) Renkas of Janesville; her son, Dan (Jeanne) Prueher of Stoughton, WI; four grandchildren: Wendy (Corey) Sader of Prior Lake, MN; Brian (Michelle) Renkas of Holmen, WI; Nick Prueher of Long Island City, NY; Jessica (Mike) Rausch of Sun Prairie, WI; seven great-grandchildren: Drew and Levi Sader; Samantha, Felicity and Adelaide Renkas; Allison and Jacob Rausch; her brothers, Allen Kuehne and George Kuehne, both of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at NATIVITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 313 E. Wall St., Janesville, with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer presiding. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the CHURCH. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum, Janesville. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Jeanne’s name to Agrace Hospice Care or St. Mary's. Assisting the family with arrangements is BRIAN HANSEN FUNERAL SERVICE, 608-752-8800, Janesville.
Sue and Dan send a special thank-you to their mother’s brothers, Al and George, for their devotion and the many loving hours spent with Mom during these declining times. The staff at Huntington Place Memory Care and Agrace Hospice Care will also hold a special place in our hearts. You are truly angels for these people in need of your care and compassion.
