Your Views: Reform should not reward immigration lawbreakers
What part of illegal and alien do people not understand? Immigration must be an orderly, respected and discretionary process, or we have chaos and turmoil. If we do not enforce our laws and national boundaries, we become a defenseless, disorganized, exploited and overrun nation.
Presidents Hoover, Truman and Eisenhower all faced an immigration crisis, and all met it with a firm policy; i.e. deportation of all aliens and illegal immigrants. Unfortunately in 1986, enough pressure was mounted so as to allow general amnesty under a “reform” law. The result? Between 11 million and 20 million more aliens and illegals, and our current morass.
The recent small group (75) of supporters of illegals and alien immigrants boasted Democrats, again pandering to potential voters rather than focusing on defending America’s laws. That rally at Janesville’s Riverside Park reminded me of the old saying of putting “lipstick on a pig”; it is still a pig, no matter how dressed up it gets; i.e. illegal and alien entry is still a crime.
In any case, the bottom line is lack of respect for boundaries and laws. To run roughshod over others and exploit others and then turn and claim not only injury but rights is beyond logic. If your neighbor crossed your property line and breaks into your house, do you give him “rights” and legal status? No! Deportation and go to the end of the line, behind the thousands of other legitimate immigrants, patiently waiting with respect for our laws.
