Jennifer Pokel and Joshua Braun are engaged and planning a Saturday, May 30, wedding at the home of Alvin and Peggy Pokel, Elkhorn. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Kathleen Pokel, Bruce and Alvin and Peggy Pokel, Elkhorn. She graduated from Bruce High School, Bruce, in 2000 and received a degree in journalism and political science from UW-Whitewater in 2007. She is employed by Community Action, Janesville. Her fiancé is the son of Kathi and Dan Braun, Janesville. He graduated from Parker High School, Janesville, in 2001. He is currently attending UW-Milwaukee. He is employed by Ott Schweitzer Distribution, Milton.

Melanie Krause and Gregory Wolf are engaged and planning a Friday, June 26, wedding at First Unitarian Society, Madison. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Marjorie and James Krause, Delavan. She graduated from Catholic Central High School, Burlington. She received a master’s degree in nursing and is currently attending UW-Madison to receive her Ph.D in May of 2010. She is employed by Badger Prairie Health Care Center, Verona, as a nurse. Her fiancé is the son of Jamee and David Wolf, Byron, Ill. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School, Cedar Falls, Iowa. He received a bachelor’s degree in exercise and athletic training from the University of Iowa and an associate’s degree in computer networking from Waukesha Area Technical College, Waukesha. He is employed by UW-Madison as an information processing consultant.

JANESVILLE—Ruth I. and Edwin C. Burhans celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Burhans and Ruth Irene Joitel were married April 13, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. He is retired from the city of Janesville water department. She is retired from waitressing and various office duties. Their family includes Dianne and Roy Cook, Temecula, Calif.; Sandra and Jesse Louison, Janesville; Joanne and Dick Dull, Rochester, Minn.; Joyce and Dave Kinservik, Mesa, Ariz.; Venus Burhans, Houston, Texas and the late Ronald Burhans. They also have 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren.
