Police warn of delays during funeral procession

Police are cautioning motorists to expect traffic delays Friday as the funeral procession for Ken Hendricks makes its way from First Lutheran Church to Oak Hill Cemetery.

The funeral for Hendricks, who died last Friday, starts at noon Friday at the church, 612 N. Randall Ave. Burial will follow at the cemetery on North Washington Street.

Police anticipate the procession will begin between 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. Controlled intersections will be closed on Randall Avenue from East Milwaukee Street to West Memorial Drive, West Memorial to North Washington and from North Washington to the cemetery.

While 1,200 to 1,500 people are expected at the funeral, the length of the procession and the duration of the intersection closures are uncertain.

A viewing is scheduled today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Eclipse Center in Beloit. A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m.. A viewing is also scheduled from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
