Four Parker wrestlers advance to semifinals

— Janesville Parker’s wrestling team had a productive day Friday at the Mid-States Classic.

The Vikings are in fifth place in the 40-team two-day tournament and have four wrestlers in today’s semifinals.

Parker has 92.5 points after the first day, while Wausau West is first with 164.

Freshman Brennan Casey-Schmidt and senior Ryan Holden both won three matches Friday to advance to the semifinals at 103- and 112-pounds, respectively. Holden improved to 14-0 with two pins and a technical fall, while Casey-Schmidt moved to 13-1 with three easy wins.

At 171 pounds, senior Enio Perez advanced to the semifinals with two pins and a decision. Perez will take a 13-1 record into today’s semifinal match against top-seecded Jackson Hein of Wausau West.

Harold Lloyd had to work overtime but also managed to win three matches for the Vikings at 285. The senior, now 13-0 on the season, won 4-2 in overtime in a quarterfinal match against Evan Knutson of Wausau West. The top-seeded Lloyd won his first two matches by pin and will face Kit Conrad of Wisconsin Dells in a semifinal match.
