Council to consider purchasing land
JANESVILLE The Janesville City Council likely will consider Monday whether the city should buy a piece of property east of the police station.
The 7,230-square-foot parcel at 101 N. Franklin St. contains an auto repair shop that once was a gas station. City officials propose buying the site with tax incremental finance funds. After environmental cleanup, the building could be demolished and the site used as green space.
The plan commission unanimously backed the purchase this week as consistent with city plans. It did not review the financial aspects of the purchase.

Perhaps this is the newest proposed location for the aquatic facility. The city manager and city hall employees can swim during lunchtime if the new breakroom is too crowded or if they don't feel like spending $60-$70 for the matinee show at the Armory. The cops can double as lifeguards, saving the city some money.

Ya know, This is what burns me up. The city keeps buying "green space" and yet the city can't even afford to keep the "green spaces" we already have mowed or kept up! Sheesh! What are they thinking! Argh! I think money would be well spent hiring more workers as this city is growing bigger and would require more staff. Come on city officals, Get real here. Let's put the money where it is really needed, Not in more "green spaces".
