— The Orfordville Police Department has received a $4,000 equipment grant from the Wisconsin State Patrol Bureau of Transportation Safety for participating in recent a nationwide drunken driving crackdown.

The crackdown from mid-August through Labor Day combined intensified law enforcement with a federally funded media campaign to deter impaired driving.

“We hope that people will voluntarily make responsible decisions about drinking and driving,” Chief Dave Wickstrum said.

“But if they choose to threaten the safety of others by getting behind the wheel while impaired, we’re fully prepared to get them off the road by arresting them.”

I think this is excellent they got this grant, that they took the time to apply for this grant. The tax payer also pays when a drunk driver kills someone and they have no insurance. A small price to pay for helping to save a life.

Now the goverment is giving them extra money (grant money) for doing there jobs, Hmmmm now where does the goverment get EXTRA money from? TAXES AND LOTS OF THEM SO NOW THE TAX PAYER ALSO PAYS FOR THAT DRUNK DRIVING ARREST! Aren't the fines they collect enough for them in these cases?
