WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on the Comprehensive Plan

— Janesville's city planners are tabulating the results from a recent open house where city residents got to choose what they'd like to see in Janesville over the next 30 years.

City Development Specialist Al Hulick says instead of more big-box stores, people seem to want a more mixed-use office, commercial and residential developments. Hulick says citizens indicated they like the small town feel of the city. He says the park system is revered by Janesville residents and that links directly to the trail system. He says people like the feel of the neighborhoods in Janesville, but would like more diversified home styles.

Hulick says over the next several months city staff, consultants and the steering committee will work on the first draft of Janesville's comprehensive plan.
