— A convicted sex offender was released from prison Tuesday to a halfway house between Janesville and Beloit.

Corey L. Standfield, 29, will be released to Rock Valley Community Programs, 203 W. Sunny Lane, the Rock County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Standfield was convicted in 1998 of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl. He threatened the girl and two boys accompanying her with a knife, according to the department’s press release.

Among conditions of Standfield’s release are no contact with minors or victims.

He is barred from taverns, bars and liquor stores. He must not drink alcohol or use drugs, must comply with sex offender rules, cooperate with electronic monitoring, have regular face-to-face contact with law enforcement and comply with all requirements of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration Program.

If anyone finds sex offenders as appalling as I do please do not patronize FROSTY FREEZE in Janesville. The owner is a convicted sex offender who assaulted his young male employees for years. The fact he isn't behind bars is disgusting!

he will be judged by a higher power for his actions and so will all of you. I think it is funny that you are so perfect that you can pass this mans judgement. However you are not even smart enough to spell correctly. And this man spent 11 years in the pen.THAT is not a short term.I know murders that spent less time in.Who would you rather have in your neiborhood? You do your job and let the lord do his.

Also, why does it seem like Wisconsin breeds these freaks, or am I mistaken? I mean, there's the guy with the dead deer, the kids digging up the grave of that girl, Dahmer, etc.

yet people can go to prison for selling marijuana, but yet a person that is a child molester, gets to get out and eventually live among all of us normal people, and yet the police and judges are the one who enforce the law, what is wrong with our country!!! They all need to be locked up forever.

Next time he does something the kid will be killed so there's no witness. These guys learn things while locked up. And it's not how to be a better citizen.

Yeah it should be. Unfortunately, the great patriots of the ACLU would probably sue on the grounds of cruel and unusual punishment.

I don't see any drug offenders getting to be in a house, they are sent away for years, but hey...be a sex offender and you can get out and be able to live in a house! what is wrong with this picture!!!
