— Janesville Parker girls soccer coach Matt Beisser wasn’t pleased with the play of his team in the first half of Tuesday night’s Big Eight Conference game against Beloit Memorial.

Fortunately for Beisser, the Vikings made up for it in the second half.

Junior Kelsey Bysted had two goals and three assists to lead Parker High to a come-from-behind, 5-1 win over Beloit. The Vikings (8-0, 2-0) trailed 1-0 at half, but took over in the second 40 minutes.

“We were frustrated the first half, and Beloit had a good game plan coming into the game,” Beisser said. “We were taking long-range shots that we don’t normally take because Beloit was using seven defenders.

“In the second half, everybody stepped up. We regrouped and started playing team soccer. I know the girls were frustrated because we were dominating play and couldn’t score, but Beloit had a good goalie.”

Bysted tied the game three minutes into the second half on an assist from Catie O’Leary, and Ashleigh Busfield gave the Vikings the lead for good four minutes later on the first of three Bysted assists. Brianna Michios made it 3-1 before Bysted and Nicole Strieker concluded the scoring three minutes apart.

Parker now sets its sights on defending conference champion Middleton. The Vikings have never beaten the Cardinals, at play at Parker at 7 p.m. Thursday.

“It’s a huge game for us,” Beisser said. “We think we’re good enough to play with Middleton, and now we get a chance to prove it.

“We get them at home, and it should be a great high school soccer game.”

I have to agree with zum09 on how soccer is about learning, having fun, and meeting new friends. However, the comment on how the Beloit Team is trash talking I think u should get your facts straight. Just because someone is named Beloit Guy doesn't mean it's the team doing it. Think about it for a second. oh and obviously someone close to your team is also talking trash bout how Beloit can't establish a passing game. Don't u think that's attacking the team that doesn't even have a part in this conversation. Being a member of the Beloit WOMEN'S soccer team all I have to say is it was a tough game and both teams played as hard as they could. I have nothing against the Janesville teams cuz we r all out there for the same reason: TO PLAY SOCCER!! oh and getalife maybe u should take your own advice and truly GET A LIFE

It's really sad that we are putting teenage student athlete's into the middle of adults petty squabbles over east-side vs. west-side and Beloit vs. Janesville. I've seen alot of soccer games that my grandson at Craig has played in and my granddaughter at Parker. I've always been impressed with the talents of them and their teammates both on the field and in the classroom. I'm sure it's the same in Beloit as well. The point of high school athletics is not about wins or losses, it's about helping them grow into productive members of their communities.

How about just giving a little credit to the players on a great start to their season. I have personally watched many of these young women play over the past 8/9 years and not only are they very good soccer players but they are even better young women. They don't control who they play nor do they control what their coach says in the media. They just go out and play hard and have fun. They deserve our respect. I admire them and I am proud of their accomplishments for Janesville soccer in general. For the record, my kids attend and play for Craig.

Really? Is it necessairy when we're adults to talk bad about other schools coaches and players. As a Parker Girl's Soccer Player, I'm highly offended by the fact that parents and adults in neighboring communities talk bad about us. So you hate our coach, or think we don't play hard teams? It's not just about the teams, it's about the game we play, and learning soccer, having fun with one another and making friends. Some of my best friends have come from playing soccer. You think we're not playing hard enough teams, we're up for the challenge. Name the terms. Parker always gives our all, we play as one, and if we lose, we lose as one. And unlike other teams..(BELOIT) we don't talk trash to our opposing team on the field, or take dives, or purposely kick the ball off the field to waste the clock.

hahahahaha---hahahahahaha-hahahahah ROFL! Nice win Parker. You are right getalife, it is about the girls learning to play the game right. And it appears these girls have been taught the right way to play since their youth, they play well together, and they have for a long time. I just don't like Beisser's comments like "Columbus got one shot on goal because we're good and we keep people out", when in reality they haven't played anyone really good yet. But time will tell how good they really are, hopefully they can put together a nice post season run to represent Janesville soccer.

what kind of possession game are you talking about. the only possession game beloit knows how to play is kick and run. Parker did pull off the dogs as well. You earlier commented on if they did how did bysted get an assist on the 11th goal. If you had your facts straight and maybe had been there you wouldve seen Beisser had all the bench players in and Bysted was on defense and she kicked a ball long to a girl that barely plays one minute a game. As far as Beisser saying he plays the teams on the schedule, all of my kids have played for him and he has been here at Parker through the tough 4 wins seasons. Give the guy a break and get a life. Maybe you being a Beloit person are just jeolous of success no matter how you measure it. You also should not read into what the paper says so much. There job is to create drama. You say its not about the kids. Parker soccer team is the kids and everytime you make a cheap comment about them you crap on those kids. If you have a problem with the coach why dont you grow some and give the guy a call. I think he teaches at Parker.

I have no problems with the kids. I have a problem with their coach commenting about "playing who is on the schedule" when he can impact who that is. Look, if you want to be considered one of the best you should start to act like it. Play the best. As for Beloit, I know their coach very, very well. They are in a different place then Parker is right now. They are very young and trying to get their program established. Did I mention the fact they were beating Clinton by 6 at halftime and called the dogs completely off only scoring once in the second half? They played a possession game to keep the score down, something Coach Beiser must not understand. Starters were not in much during the second half and Coach Kindschi would certainly not allow his leading scorer to be anywhere near the score sheet on the 11th goal of a blowout.

31 shots to 1 shot, i think show superiority. Also didnt Madison Memorial and Middleton only score 4 goals on beloit. Parker scored 5. What does that mean? I bet if you were at the game even though they were behind at half, there was no doubt who the better team was from beginning to end. I saw the game and Parker looked superior. I think it is time to find a new topic and just leave Parker alone. It doesnt matter who they play, its about the girls learning the game of soccer and having FUN. I dont see you talking crap about Beloit or Craig today. Beloit plays those poor nonconference teams like 2-3 times each. No comments today about craig huh. Probably because they got it handed to them by Lafollette which happened to take 2nd to last place in conference the last 3 years. Probably time to leave the kids alone

No one knows how good Parker is because they don't play anyone in the non-conferene. Lodi, Columbus and Clinton? The three schools combined enrollment is probably still less than the amount of kids that go to Parker. You don't get any better not challenging yourself.

Or maybe the second half rout could be contributed to Parker's superior play!

Maybe the early struggles against Beloit could be attributed to Parker's uber tough non-conference schedule!
