JANESVILLE A water-logged Monterey Stadium track and the constant threat of lightning put an early end to Friday night’s 61st Cougar Relays.
Although 10 events were completed, no final team scores were kept.
Meet director Richard Lambrecht called the meet off at 7 p.m. due to excess water on the track and lightning in the area. Under WIAA rules, no athletic event may begin or continue without waiting at least a half hour after lightning was seen in the area.
Janesville Parker High won two of the six boys events that were completed. Parker’s shot put team of D’Merius Holbrook, Harold Lloyd and Calvin Nauer won with a combined distance of 135 feet, 4 inches. Janesville Craig High senior Greg Pedersen had the best individual throw with a mark of 50-7.
The Vikings’ 800 sprint medley team of Cody St. Michael, LaVell Hewlett, Ryan Shelton and Enio Perez won the race with a time of 1:37.31.
In girls competition, Parker’s 300 shuttle hurdle team ran to victory in 52.17. Shelby Demos, Cassie Niles and Amanda Belden ran of the winning team.
