JANESVILLE Janesville Craig rallied in tough weather conditions to sweep past Madison La Follette and Janesville Parker in Big Eight Conference boys golf Monday at the Janesville Country Club.
In bitter cold and a short hailstorm, Craig High posted a 327, while La Follette carded 345 and Parker shot 355.
“We asked the kids if they wanted to end it after nine holes, but they wanted to finish,” Craig coach Mike Wesling said. “The conditions were tough.’’
The victories lifted the Cougars to 5-1 in the Big Eight.
Jeff Hesse carded a 5-over 77 to lead the Cougars. La Follette’s Max Hosking managed a 76 for the day’s low round, while Andrew Tearman carded an 87 to lead Parker.
“Jeff had a super score,” Wesling said. “His play was outstanding.’’
