— A Clinton teen was in fair condition Tuesday morning at Rockford Memorial Hospital after being injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident Monday night.

Nathan M. Lippert, 17, of 10741 E. County X, Clinton, was lying on the pavement of Highway 140 south of Clinton when emergency crews arrived at 7:17 p.m.

His 16-year-old female passenger, Kalie R. Kemmer of 6003 S. O’Riley Road, Darien, was found lying in the ditch.

Both were ejected from the Dodge Neon.

The preliminary investigation indicates Lippert was driving north on Highway 140 where the road was closed for construction. When he attempted to drive around barricades, he lost control of the vehicle, which hit a culvert and rolled several times.

Kemmer was treated and released at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Neither teen was wearing a seatbelt. Speed appears to be a factor, but the accident remains under investigation.
