Janesville Parker High School’s boys tennis team keeps coming up short.

For the third time since Saturday, the Vikings dropped a 4-3 match, losing to Madison La Follette in Tuesday’s Big Eight Conference dual.

The meet swung on a three-set showdown at No. 1 singles. La Follette’s Mike Schneider defeated Nick Gilbank, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4.

“That match was back and forth the entire third set,” said Parker coach Mike Fuhrmann, whose team fell to 0-3 in the Big Eight.

Parker got victories at No. 4 singles from Travis Wood and at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles from Kyle Walker and John Zillmer and Ken Konkol and Jake Lewis.

“Travis Wood continues to play better and better,” Fuhrman said.

Wood was coming off 3-0 weekend at the Craig Quadrangular.

The Vikings are scheduled to host Middleton in a makeup match today.
