Winzenz named Janesville Interim City Manager

WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on the new role for the city employee.

Janesville's city council names Director of Administrative Services Jay Winzenz as the interim city manager.

Council President Amy Loasching says the interview that took place Tuesday was really a discussion about his new role. She says both sides appears satisfied with the one page contract. She says Winzenz will receive an increase in compensation, and when the next city manager takes office Winzenz will go back to his former position. He will be interim city manager for six months or until the next city manager is hired. Current city manager Steve Sheiffer retires September fifth at midnight. Winzenz becomes interim manager at 12:01 AM September sixth.

The council is starting its second search for a manager.
