The first non-incumbent is circulating nomination papers for the Janesville School Board's spring election.

Jim Farrell works as a controller at a stamping company in Monroe. He says his experience as a CPA will also prove beneficial to the school district. Farrell has not held a position in public office, but sought an appointment to the school board last summer. The two commissioner who were appointed, Peter Severson and Greg Ardrey, have also taken out nomination papers, as has School Board President DuWayne Severson. Five of the nine seats are up for grabs in the spring election.
