JANESVILLE What kind of schools superintendent would you like?
That's the question being asked of Janesville School District residents.
A public-input meeting to answer the question is scheduled for later this month.
Superintendent Tom Evert will retire June 30 after 14 years at the helm. The school board hopes to name his replacement in March or April.
The "public engagement session" is set for 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the small auditorium at Craig High School, 401 S. Randall Ave.
Those who want to participate are asked to:
-- Call (608) 743-5000 to register.
-- Complete a "Leadership Profile Assessment" before coming to the meeting.
The assessment is a form available on the district's Web site, www.janesville.k12.wi.us, under the heading "Superintendent Search—Community Feedback Form."
Anyone who cannot access the form online can get one printed out at the district office, 527 S. Franklin St., or call (608) 743-5000.
Community leaders are being sent invitations to the meeting, but all residents are welcome.
The search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates will collect the comments as well as comments from district staff and school board members, and use them to prepare a report to the board.
The report will be the basis for a profile that will guide the search.
