Business owner to seek school board seat
A sixth man has taken out papers to run for Janesville School Board.
He is Karl Dommershausen, 66, of 2419 Plymouth Ave.
Dommershausen ran unsuccessfully for Janesville City Council in 2007. A downtown business owner, he has been active in the push to convert one-way streets to two-way.
Five school board seats are up for grabs in the April 7 elections. The top three vote-getters will serve three-year terms. The next two will serve for one year.
Dommershausen runs 27 West Appraisal & Estate Services with his wife, Renee.
Others who are circulating nomination papers are Jim Farrell, 62, of 1427 N. Harmony Drive, Tom Lemmer, 45, of 324 Linn St., and incumbents Gregory Ardrey, DuWayne Severson and Peter D. Severson.
Dommershausen, Farrell and Lemmer were among the 10 who applied to be appointed to two vacant board seats last summer, when the board appointed Ardrey and Peter Severson.
Incumbent Debra Kolste is not running for re-election. Incumbent Lori Stottler remains undecided.
Others interested in running should contact assistant board clerk Nancy Hewes, (608) 743-5056.
Nominating petitions with at least 100 signatures must be filed by Tuesday, Jan. 6.
