Whitewater school district hires firm to find new superintendent
WHITEWATER The Whitewater School Board approved a search firm Thursday to help find a replacement for departing superintendent Leslie Steinhaus.
The board approved a contract with the Madison-based Wisconsin Association of School Boards after hearing presentations from the association and Fox River Consultants of Packwaukee. The contract is not to exceed $5,000 without further school board approval, said Charles Nass, board president.
Steinhaus announced to district staff Oct. 13 that she will resign her position as superintendent effective June 30.
"It is time for me to move on and for new leadership in the district," she wrote in an e-mail to staff.
Steinhaus said she plans to seek part-time opportunities, but she's not exactly sure which ones. She said she is looking forward to spending more time with her husband and family, "doing things we have put off for several years."
Nass said the district will get a timeline for the superintendent search after it signs the final contract.
"We plan to go out for applications immediately," he said. "We hope to have wrapped this up by April."
