Janesville's General Motors workers are preparing for their last day on the job Tuesday.

Plant Spokeswoman Mary Fanning-Penny says employees are signing a banner commemorating the end of production. The banner will accompany the last Tahoe off the line to the drawing for the United Way of North Rock County in February. Fanning-Penny says the banner later could be donated to the Rock County Historical Society.

She's received calls from regional, national and international media outlets. She's heard from news organizations in Japan, Finland and Australia interested in the end of SUV production in Janesville.

There will still be production on Monday and Tuesday, but as departments finish out they'll continue to do clean-up work and tool inventory.
