— Wisconsin’ bid for a three-goal comeback came up short as a shot at the buzzer crossed the goal line after time expired, giving Denver a 3-2 win over the Badgers Friday night.

Tom May, Anthony Maiani, and Tyler Ruegsegger each scored goals as Denver (17-4-0, 12-3-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) won its seventh straight game.

Wisconsin (8-10-3, 4-8-1) began chipping away at the lead with an Aaron Bendickson’s redirect of a Kyle Turris shot from the high slot past with less than a minute and a half in the second period.

Sean Dolan cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal 1:55 into the third period and Matthew Ford had a chance to tie it but his goal after time expired was waved off.
