— The Milton School Board chose a construction company for its proposed new high school at its meeting Monday.

The board voted to hire Miron Construction Company to work with Plunkett Raysich Architects and a citizen committee charged with designing a new building. If voters approve a referendum for a new high school, Miron will become the construction manager and general contractor of the project, according to a news release from the school district.

The board received four proposals from construction companies and interviewed three firms: J.P. Cullen & Sons, J.H. Findorff & Son and Miron Construction Company. It chose Miron because its bid was the most competitive, the release said. The board also was impressed with the company’s state-of-the-art computer system and its offer of free services before the referendum.

The company also will allow Milton to explore environmentally friendly building opportunities, the release said.
