Expelled student must test clean for drugs
The Janesville School Board recently expelled a high school student who was accused of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver on school grounds.
The student is expelled through the end of the 2008-09 school year but may apply for reinstatement no earlier than September 2008 after complying with certain conditions.
Those conditions include submitting to random drug testing and providing a clean test before returning to school.
If the student is reinstated early, he or she must continue to submit to random drug and alcohol tests; maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork; and be restricted to school grounds for lunch.
This brings to 16 the number of students expelled this school year, compared with 18 at this same time last year.
