Deputy makes arrest after being forced into ditch
36-year-old Wendy L. Romack of Janesville is spending her 4th of July in the Rock County Jail.
She's accused for forcing a sheriff's deputy off the road early Friday morning while driving a stolen Ford Taurus. The deputy reports having to take evasive action and drive off the road and into the ditch, to avoid an oncoming car in the deputy's lane of traffic about 2:30 in the morning. After a high speed chase Northbound on Highway 51, authorities used "stop sticks" to disable the suspects vehicle.
Romack has been arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, knowingly fleeing an officer, operating while intoxicated-second offense, and several other charges.
