Janesville Legion sweeps Sheboygan
JANESVILLE The Janesville American Legion doubled its pleasure Saturday afternoon.
Garrett Morris and David Jacobson threw complete games to lead Janesville to a 3-2 and 10-0 doubleheader sweep over Sheboygan at Roy Coyle Field.
In improving to 12-3 on the season, Janesville continued to find the right formula for success. Morris and Jacobson allowed only seven hits in two games—including Jacobson’s one-hitter in Game 2—while the offense continued to provide the scoring punch. Janesville banged out 16 hits in two games.
“Everything came together today,” Janesville coach Ron Pohlman said. “David was really sharp, and Garrett shut them down after the first inning.
“And our kids are really swinging the bats well. Hopefully, we can keep it going.”
Janesville trailed 2-0 in Game 1 before Beyer’s heroics in the bottom of the third. Jacobson cut the lead to 2-1 with a sacrifice fly, and Beyer followed with a home run to center that gave Janesville a 3-2 lead.
Morris did not allow a run after the first inning in improving to 5-0 for the season. The 2008 Janesville Parker graduate struck out eight and did not allow an earned run.
Jacobson, who will be a senior at Parker, was the story in Game 2. The righthander allowed only a two-out double in the first in improving to 3-1.
Ben Olin and Tyler Teubert had two-run doubles to spark the offense. The game was called after the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Janesville hosts Genoa City in a Lakes Area Legion Conference game at 7 p.m. Monday at Schilberg Park in Milton.
