— A Janesville driver led police on a six-mile chase after forcing a Rock County sheriff's deputy off the road Friday morning.

A deputy tried to stop a green Ford Taurus at 2:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 51 north of Consolidated School Road, Fulton Township, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office. The car, driven by Wendy L. Romack, 36, Janesville, had been reported stolen by the Dane County Sheriff's Office, the release said.

According to the release:

The vehicle pulled into the deputy's lane, forcing the deputy to drive his vehicle off the road and into a ditch. The Taurus did not yield to the deputy's lights and siren, continuing north into Edgerton, where Edgerton police assisted the pursuit. The car eventually changed directions and pulled onto Fulton Town Hall Road after driving over stop sticks on Highway 51. Romack tried to flee on foot, but was arrested on charges of driving a stolen vehicle, knowingly fleeing an officer, drunken driving and other charges.

The chase lasted 6.4 miles and eight minutes, the release said.

But I will admit that SOME posters don't realize the difference...but there are MANY more that are posted sarcastically.

Really? What part of sarcasm don't you understand?

Well, yes, I do comment. I wish people would realize that they don't publish photos with the news blog.
.
If these comments are all veiled criticism of the Gazette over the Halbach story, then it is obvious only to yourself.

janesvillean...
.
You comment quite often whenever someone mentions a picture not being posted with a news story or blog entry.
.

Apparently you cannot recognize the sarcasm stemming from the original story of Screemin Meemies when it was obvious that the Gazette posted and printed the pictures of the "prostitutes" for one reason and one reason only....because sex sells.
.
That's the Gazette way.....

nowind, would you prefer that the Gazette not publish breaking news in the news blog at all? In this case the story would have waited over 24 hours to be published at all. Also, I suspect this happening on a holiday weekend may have something to do with the availability of the mugshot (which some now seem to consider a requirement). Seriously, what is the likelihood you will run into this particular individual? Framing it in personal terms doesn't really sell it for me. It's just a prurient interest. At least be honest about that.
