While Beloit College's big 22 inch telescope is in storage waiting for a new home, there is other work to be done to prepare for its continued operation.

College staff will be upgrading the computer hardware and software to run the telescope.

Assistant professor of physics and astronomy, Britt Scharringhausen, says a new building is planned for the Welty Environmental Center at Beckman's Mill Park west of Beloit.

Students and local residents will still be able to use the college's ten inch telescopes, which will be mounted on the roof of the new science building.
