The Janesville School Board has a packet of information about school district employees--excluding top administrators--who make more than $75,000 in wages and benefits.

Commissioner Tim Cullen says he was curious to know who didn't have daily contact with students and was compensated more than $75,000. Cullen says it isn't the position of the board to cut a specific position, but to give policy direction to the administration to cut a certain amount of dollars. Cullen says when he wrote his request he didn't intend to include teachers on the list.

Nearly 360 teachers make more than $75,000 in wages and benefits.

i agree with ihavealife. More money needs to go to the teachers and whats needed in the classrooms and not at the ESC. Teachers are wonderful and they put in very long and stressful days. Anyone complaining about having holidays and summers off or getting paid to much should do their jobs for a couple of months then see if they have any complaints.

No one has said anything bad about teachers on this blog. Go back and read the story over again,it's about employees that DON'T come in contact with students. Most teachers deserve every PENNY they make.

It always boggles my mind when I read people who complain teachers earn too much. They are entrusted with educating our nations MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE while often keeping over 30 easily distracted and sometimes ill-mannered kids in a class involved, interested, and excited about learning. They have my unlimited respect for all they put up with and should be compensated as such. If anyone wonders about the high teacher turn-over, most people simply have to look in a mirror. Teachers not only burn-out because of classroom stress (try it sometime!) but also because there is such limited parental support, involvement and community encouragement.

ihavealife: We actually agree on this one! Wow! I sure wish my wife was one that made that much! What are benefits for a year $10-15K??? We don't use health care benefits, wish we could have a portion of that back since we are saving the JSD money!

I suppose a masters degree with 15-20 years and you are there.

Administration is still overpaid and there are too many of them.

I agree start cutting some fat, then give the extra $$ to the teachers for what is needed in the classrooms.
