Teen sentenced in drunk driving death
17-year-old Daniel Fleming of Chicago is sentenced to one year in jail and 12 years probation for the drunk driving death of his friend last summer in Rock County.
Judge James Daley also wants Fleming to write a letter to be delivered to his probation agent, who can then deliver it to the victim's family if they wish to read it. Daley says he wants Fleming to express his remorse about the crash to the victim's family. Daley says if Fleming consumes alcohol or intoxicating drugs before he's 30, he could serve up to 37 and a half years in prison.
The parents of the 17-year-old Chicago boy killed in the accident, the 16-year-old Janesville girl injured in the accident and that girl's mother each spoke of their pain at Fleming's sentencing Friday.
