Economy may prompt new marketing tactics

Consumer disappointment in the corporate nature of "big box" stores has the chairman and CEO of an area grocery store chain making personal appearances, including one Friday in Janesville. Pick 'n Save's Bob Mariano says consumers want a local connection to goods and services.

As part of that personal approach, Mariano will host a fundraising barbecue for the Echo Food Pantry from 11:00 until 4:00 Friday afternoon at the Pick 'n Save Food Store on Center Avenue in Janesville.
