Janesville, Milton win Legion tournament openers
BURLINGTON Janesville’s American Legion baseball team pounded Franklin, 10-0, in seven innings in a Class AAA regional opener here Wednesday.
Janesville scored six runs on five hits in the seventh inning, including B.J. Scharenbroch’s bases-loaded triple to win the game on the 10-run rule.
Three Janesville pitchers combined for the shutout. Starter Garrett Morris allowed one hit through the first three innings. Dylan Grall gave up four hits in three innings and Scharenbroch pitched a perfect seventh.
“The big thing is we saved our No. 1 pitcher,” said assistant coach Bob Schenck. “We only had to use him for three innings.’’
Janesville had 10 hits. Scharenbroch had four RBIs.
Janesville (18-8) faces Burlington at 5:30 p.m. today in the second round of the double-elimination tournament.
