ROCK COUNTY Local planners shouldn't rule out rail service as part of their efforts to market the soon to be closed G-M plant site.
Steve Scaccia, President of Freedom Plastics in Janesville, says he couldn't operate with a profit if it weren't for rail. He says he gets a lot of his raw materials by rail, which is more economical than by truck.
Scaccia says rail, along with the Interstate System and the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport, make it easy to market the area to developers.
Freedom Plastics is an industry leader in the manufacture of PVC piping and plastic fittings.
