BELOIT TOWNSHIP — A fire in the Town of Beloit claims two lives.

Firefighters responded to the 24-hundred block of Dewey Avenue around 11:30 last night and found smoke and flames in a split-level home.

One occupant of the house was pulled to safety by firefighters and transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital, but died there. A second victim was found in the house later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a state fire marshal is due on the scene around eight o'clock Thursday morning. Damage estimates have not been determined.
