— Rep. Steve Nass, R-Whitewater, is seeking re-election to the 31st Assembly District, which includes northern Walworth County.

His campaign will focus on three major issues:

-- Focusing state policies on job growth and tax relief.

-- Maintaining the state’s commitment to K-12 education and promoting accountability in the UW System.

-- Fighting for the return of “fiscal sanity” in developing state budgets.

“I have fought for the best interest of the taxpayers, even if that has meant publicly challenging the leaders of both parties,” Nass said in a news release. “The governor and legislative leadership have failed to responsibly manage state finances. I have refused to participate in the shameful deception of the public regarding the state’s fiscal crisis.”

Nass is chairman of the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities, vice chairman of the Assembly Committee on Education Reform and a member of the Assembly Committee on Education and the Assembly Committee on Labor.
