JANESVILLE The Janesville City Council will release later today the names of its six finalists for city manager.
The Gazette will post the applicants on its Web site as soon as they are available.
Steve Sheiffer has announced he will retire in September.
Council president Amy Loasching said the city received 39 applications, and the council narrowed those to six during closed session Monday.
Council members agreed on four immediately, she said.
“We have great-quality applicants, and we’re very excited to interview them and learn about them,” Loasching said.
She did say there were no women among the six applicants, who hail from all over the United States.
