JANESVILLE — A Janesville man was in custody at the Rock County Jail this morning after reportedly threatening his wife with a gun during a verbal dispute.

Michael K. Griffeth, 57, of 502 S. Academy St., was arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct while armed, according to Janesville police.

A call came into the Rock County 911 Center at 4:23 a.m. from Griffeth’s wife.

“When he grabbed the gun, she went outside and called 911,” Sgt. Craig Klementz said.

Eight officers surrounded the house and talk to Griffeth with a squad car loudspeaker.

Griffeth surrendered before 5 a.m. and no longer had the unloaded .38-caliber revolver, Klementz said.

“He never pointed the gun at her but did make a threat as he grabbed the revolver,” Klementz said.
