Return home isn't sweet for Snappers
BELOIT Coming home didn’t seem to be the right move for the Beloit Snappers.
After starting the second half of the Midwest League baseball season with a 7-1 record in road games, the Snappers returned to Pohlman Field and were greeted Friday night by Cedar Rapids’ 16-hit attack, which left Beloit with an 8-4 defeat.
Beloit battled back from a 5-1 deficit to pull within 5-4 by scoring two runs after two out with nobody on base in the eighth inning. Eric Santiago ignited the rally with a bunt single, and Gregory Yersich walked.
A fielder’s choice scored Santiago, and Mark Dolenc drove in Yersich with a single.
The two teams play again at 7 p.m. today.
