Letisha Polhill

— Police have made another arrest in the ongoing investigation into alleged prostitution at Screamin’ MeeMees, 402 W. Delavan Drive, that started last June.

Letisha L. Polhill, 27, of 366 Centre St., Beloit, was arrested at 4 p.m. Monday at the Janesville Police Department on a misdemeanor charge of prostitution.

She also was arrested on a warrant charging driving on a revoked license.

Polhill’s arrest brings to 11 the number arrested in the last 10 days in connection with the investigation that started with a complaint from an employee of the non-alcoholic strip club in June.

At that time, three women from Milwaukee were arrested after undercover officers from the Janesville Street Crimes Unit reported being solicited for money for sexual acts.

The criminal complaints against the 10 people whose arrests were announced last week—nine female employees of Screamin’ MeeMees and a male patron—allege that the women simulated various sexual acts while naked and had direct physical contact, but not intercourse or oral sex, with patrons of the club.

The investigation, including a review of video evidence, continues.

I disagree with the comment that if the strip club closes it will reduce the sex crimes. Sex crimes happen because someone wants to have power and control over another person and "takes it" through sexual activity. It is NOT about sex. It is NOT because "perverts" are all hot and bothered.

Just thought I would throw that in the discussion.

lvmd when you make changes in your life people may still judge you from your past. i am 180 degrees from who i was 3 years ago. if someone wants to judge me for the 3 owi's on my record. F em all. let em. the only thing that MATTERS is that im not the same person i was. saying that 'if' you change people will still judge you for your past is a cop-out and a way to easy excuse to not change....

Thank you for correcting me on my error. I am so sorry that I didnt see the pic. None the less girls are losing their jobs over this. They are also getting suspended from their jobs because of this. Whether its legal or not it is still happening. Why cant everyone just understand that it is a personal choice whether one chooses to dance or not. Hannah what is your beef with dancers? We are not bothering you. We are not bursting into your home to dance for you. Is the club or one of the girls doing something wrong to you? You just want to have something to talk about. You dont care about the feelings of others. You dont care why a person dances. I really dont think this effects you at all. It is just a story that was made to sell papers. No feelings were considered. Enjoy your gossip session. The club will continue to do business operations with or without your opinion. If by some chance the club would close the girls will go else where to dance with or without your opinion. Like I said enjoy your gossip session. Hopefully it makes you feel better.

I just wanted to ask if anyone read the article about the 20 year old lady that killed a person in a drunk driving accident. There is no picture, or address listed. Ist that a little bit more serious. Dont we have the right to see what this person looks like? I also wanted to bring another point to the table. Some of the girls are now losing their jobs because of the publicity. Everyone is talking about how the girls should turn their lives around. How can they when they are getting fired from jobs? Another thing when a person gets in trouble it doesnt matter how many years they stay out of trouble because it will be held against them later. I agree that people make their own choices but whenever the person tries to straighten their life out people still judge by past actions. I just think that once a person is pegged as a bad person that will be what people will continue to think of them.

hannah, not ALL have a long arrest record. A couple do, yes...let's not be so quick to judge their choice. I have made bad choices, too. I will continue to make mistakes, as I am not perfect. Have I ever stripped or had an arrest? No. I don't think what they did was "illegal" by the definition of the law. I think they are paying dearly and being publicly humiliated for their error in judgment.

In the movie "Domino," actress Keira Knightly gives a lapdance to a man. Now since she was paid to do this scene, does this make her a prostitute?

According to our police chief's lame explanation, it does.

doc0430, this is how it works. This is a forum, and people get to type in whatever they want. If someone doesn't like what another person typed, it turns into 3rd grade, where they run and 'tattle', instead of just ignoring the comment.
In the real world, that's what someone would do. If you were in a disagreement with someone or heard something you were offended by, you'd just ignore it or walk away. But some people have no control of their own lives and feel some sense of control by hitting the 'suggest removal' button. They are the same people who call the police on neighbors who play their stereos too loud and hide behing their curtains and giggle when the cops show off.
There are some people that just aren't happy unless they can complain about something offending them.

Hi Sarah,

No, I mean people like you and me. Just because they did this, does not make them worth less than us? I am sure most of us have done things or said things or thought things that we would not be proud of. These ladies made a choice at some point and are now dealing with that choice. Just because it was not a good choice does not make them less valuable. I feel for them that they have had to deal with that life choice and I hope this will help them or others will reach out to them to help them make a better choice going forward.

Once again, big brother decides what is right for you and what isn't. Laws enacted crippling an individuals right to freedom, and freedom between consenting adults is an affront to what a free society should be...not what others choose for you. "Prostitution" is illegal here because it generates non taxable revenue and makes the bible thumpers palms sweat...never mind they are always the first ones looking for the hookers. Welcome to Amerika.

Back when this story first broke, months ago, it was implied that there WERE blatant sex acts on the videos, not just "lap dancing." Back rooms and the like. If an act of prostitution happened, it took two. Where are the johns?

From what I can see they did everyone a favor busting these girls, there isn't one of them I would want rubbing anything of there's on me.
But on the other side of the coin these are someone's little girls that need help, so if it comes in the form of public humiliation then so be it. But also paste the pictures of all the perv's that visited this place right next to there's

I've been to a strip club or two, and ALL of them have lap dances available. I dont see the problem with em, dancers bottoms on or not, as long as the customer keeps thier parts covered. It's not sex.. close but no cigar! (forgive the pun)
What pisses me off is that our cops were getting PAID TO GO UNDERCOVER AND GET LAP DANCES and make offers to the girls!! how do you think they got the "Evidence"?
Why make them out to look like common street hookers when there is no sex involved??
There have been robberies, assaults, rapes, multiple homicides, Gangs and a terrifying growing drug problem in this town, and im not talking about a little grass.. Heroine and crack etc. read the arrests on the public record daily.. and our street crimes unit is worried about some strippers grinding without panties on..
Please! LOL!
What this is really about is the city hates the owners and the fact that it's right in town, and 18yr old patrons can go. If the city would have given them a license to open a regular bar there in the first place, there would have never been a strip club there to begin with. From my understanding the owners built the strip club there to spite the city council becouse they wouldn't issue them a liqour license after they bought the property because there were "too many bars in that area".

I'm not a visitor to the local strip clubs, but I have to agree with SarahB. If you really look at prostitution, you're talking about an act of sex. If one party is completely nude and rubbing on someone, that's not a sexual act. There is no intercourse. This is a common activity across the country in these clubs. I think it's unfair to these girls just doing what they thought they were supposed to do and now they've got their faces posted on the local paper for everyone to see. I wouldn't want my name ruined like that.

Now, if they are actually giving oral favors or arranging for intercourse for money, etc., then by all means, that should be considered prostitution. Although, from what I can gather in these stories, that's not the case.

I 2nd Camper61's emotion! I also agree with Nero's comments to an extent. Detectives have their ways of tracking down "persons of interest" when they want to...my question is: do they want to? or are they just going after the females? Chances are good that the parking lot has electronic monitoring. They can use tapes to establish the vehicles the guys were riding in/driving just as they do with gasoline drive-offs...

sarah- The only time that a lap dance is considered prostitution is when the dancer does not have any bottoms (underwear, bikini bottom, etc) on. Rer the original article last week, bottomless women grinding on a mans lap for money is considered prostitution in Wisconsin. Instead of changing the prostitution law around why not make it illegal for full nudity clubs in the state? If they changed the law then Screamin meemees could serve liqour. Right now they have to serve juice because they are a full nudity club.

I think the police department should be more worried about the gangs in Janesville than if a dancer takes a dollar with her breasts or does a lap dance. Seriously, if that was prostitution, every dancer in America would be arrested for prostitution.

Maybe our lawmakers need to rework the prostitution laws (yeah, like that would ever happen). Anyway, it seems foolish that lap-dancing is considered prostitution.

As to why there are many more dancers arrested compared to Johns, if I had to guess, I'd say the dancers are easier to catch. They work at the club and have all manner of ties to it in terms of tax paperwork, payroll records & hours on video. The Johns on the other hand, usually pay cash and were not on tape day after day. Tracking down their identity is likely much more difficult.

Hang on a minute.

When this investigation started, we heard about video from the club, including "patrons."

So far we have ten women and a man arrested.
Where are all those patrons?
