UW-Whitewater bounced back from a three-hit shutout to split a nonconference baseball doubleheader with St. Olaf College here Monday.

The Warhawks (7-2) were limited to three singles en route to a 5-0 loss in the opener. In Game 2, Jordan Stine’s two-out bases-loaded RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave Whitewater a come-from-behind 8-7 victory.

In Game 2, Whitewater trailed 4-0 in the third inning, 6-4 in the fifth and 7-5 in the top of the seventh.

Joe Munn doubled to open Whitewater’s seventh, but Jeff Donovan fouled out and Tom Corcoran pop out to third.

Kevin Zalnis plated Munn with an RBI single to keep Whitewater alive. Ben Prather singled in pinch runner Mike Ross from second base to tie it 7-7.

An error and a hit batter loaded the bases to set the stage for Stine’s clutch hit.

The Warhawks collected 12 hits, including Jeff Donovan’s three-run home run in the bottom of the third for a 4-4 tie game.

Greg Donovan, the third Whitewater pitcher, allowed two hits and one unearned run through two innings of relief to pick up the victory.

In Game 1, St. Olaf’s Todd Mathison blanked Whitewater on three hits en route to going the distance. Mathison walked five and notched three strikeouts. Whitewater starter Adam Dominick allowed one run on two hits in one-third inning to take the loss.
