Luke Christie, an envoy of hope, will appear Saturday at the local motorcycle dealership that has been helping kids hope for years.

Luke Christie, the 2008 MDA Harley-Davidson Goodwill Ambassador, will visit Kutter Harley-Davidson, 3223 N. Pontiac Drive, Janesville, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Luke, the son of Brad and Gloria Christie of Due West, S.C., has spinal muscular atrophy-type 2, a progressive neuromuscular disease that causes muscle weakness.

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. asked Luke, who already served two years as the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s national goodwill ambassador, to serve as its 2008 MDA ambassador in conjunction with Harley’s 105th anniversary celebration.

The Christies are coming to Janesville to thank riders for their support of the annual MDA Tub Run, which will be held June 13-14.

Last year, Kutter Harley-Davidson and the South Central Wisconsin H.O.G. Chapter raised more than $187,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their annual motorcycle raffle and MDA Tub Run.

The goal for this year’s MDA Tub Run is to net $200,000 to benefit MDA’s local programs and services.
