Parker baseball team falls twice

MADISON — Janesville Parker High School suffered through long afternoon en route to 5-4 and 18-7 losses to Madison Memorial in a Big Eight Conference doubleheader here Saturday.

In Game 1, the Spartans scored three runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh to spear the victory.

In the nightcap, Memorial posted a 12-run rally in the fifth inning to trample the Vikings in six innings.

Parker pitchers were tagged for 11 hits in the opener and 13 hits in Game 2.

“We were horrible,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “It’s been about three games in a row we’ve been horrible.’’

Matt Beyer’s solo home run helped Parker to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Brodie Meehan’s solo shot in the sixth gave the Vikings a 4-2 lead.

Parker ace pitcher Garrett Morris had to leave the game in the fourth inning with a sore back.

“That kind of made it difficult for us,” Martin said. “It backed up our pitching.’’

In Game 2, Parker held a 6-2 lead before its total collapse in the fifth inning. Parker issued six straight walks to fuel the fifth-inning debacle.

Parker (4-9, 4-8) will travel to Oconomowoc for a nonconference game on Monday.
