Cougar baseball team falls flat against Fort

JANESVILLE — Janesville Craig didn’t bring its “A” game, and the result was a 5-3 loss to Fort Atkinson in nonconference baseball here Monday.

The Cougars committed four errors, and just two of Fort Atkinson’s runs were earned.

“We came to park not ready to play,’’ Craig coach Victor Herbst said. “We did not play with intensity, and we just went through the motions on defense and at the plate as well.

“We can’t show up and expect to make a run in the tourament,” Herbst added.

Craig starter Ben Olin lasted 2 1/3 innings. Olin allowed four runs—two earned—on five hits. Sevy Stavn allowed one unearned run on two hits through 4 2/3 innings.

Fort Atkinson led 4-1 after three innings and 5-2 after seven.

Trevor Foss hit a solo home run in the seventh to highlight Craig’s seven-hit attack.

Craig (9-8) hosts Sun Prairie at 5 p.m. in a Big Eight game at Riverside Park.
