Oconomowoc nips Parker baseball team

OCONOMOWOC — Janesville Parker High School couldn’t find a clutch hit en route to a 3-2 loss to Oconomowoc in nonconference baseball here Monday.

The Racoons’ Casey Herr singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh off Parker starter David Jacobson.

“We had guys in scoring position,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “We had some opportunities but couldn’t get that big hit.’’

Parker loaded the bases in the fifth and scored two runs. The Vikings left seven runners on base overall.

“It should have been a bigger inning,” Martin said. “We had a chance to get more.’’

Oconomowoc had nine hits off Jacobson, who made his first appearance of the season. The Vikings were held to four hits.

“David gave us a huge game,” Martin said. “It was his first time pitching.’’

Parker (4-10) travels to Madison West for a 5 p.m. Big Eight game Thursday.
