Unemployment rate in Rock County drops
Rock county's unemployment rate drops.
State Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman says we're seeing the expected seasonal job increases that occur when the weather warms and spring hiring begins. She adds, Wisconsin's economy is holding up better than many areas of the country. The latest unemployment figures may bear that optimism out. Rock county's unemployment rate for April is 5%, that's down from 6.3% in March, and also down from a year ago. Janesville unemployment rate for April is 5.2%, down from 6.3% in February. Beloit's unemployment rate is 7.6%, down from 9.1%.
The statewide unemployment rate is also down to 4.4%.
