Tentative pact reached in Clinton
CLINTON The Clinton School District and teachers union have a tentative agreement on the 2007-2009 contract, board President Randy Gracyalny said Friday.
Gracyalny would not share contract details because the teachers and board have not seen them.
The district had a mediation session May 19 and agreed on part of the contract. Other details were finalized over the phone during the week, Gracyalny said.
The school board could finalize the contract at a June 3 board meeting, Gracyalny said. Teachers could approve the contract the same week, he said.
In a March press release negotiators told The Janesville Gazette the board’s latest offer included an increase of 4.3 percent in salary and benefits combined for the current year and 4.2 percent in 2008-09.
At the time, the Clinton Education Association’s last offer was 4.5 percent and 4.4 percent.

jqpublic - I saw nothing in the article that said what percentage Clinton teacher salaries were going to go up. Also, if you are speculating that they will get a 4.4% raise you are not understanding what "salary and benefits combined" means. Usually almost half the percentage goes towards health insurance. Lately premiums have been going up anywhere from 5 to 10% each year. So, my guess is that Clinton teachers salaries will go up about 2.1 to 2.3 percent. I really don't know if that is higher than Janesville teachers. Did you expect Janesville teachers to comment on this article out of jelousy?

I do agree that I would expect more comments on this. I guess gazette readers are only jealous of Janesville teachers and not the other teachers in Rock County.

It is amazing to me how people are not commenting on Clinton Teachers? They received full percents higher the the JEA and the JEA has to begin paying insurance premiums. I guess that shows what kind of community Janesville is.
