— A minor mishap at Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport after the air show Saturday caused a flutter of concern and a flurry of radio scanner chatter.

No one was injured at about 4:40 p.m. when an experimental aircraft slid on a runway on takeoff, reported Ron Burdick, airport manager.

The nose wheel fell off the homebuilt airplane, and it slid to the side of the runway, Burdick said.

The accident happened about half an hour after Southern Wisconsin AirFest 2008 ended for the day, air show announcer Phil Dacy said.

The plane’s owner and his daughter were in the plane, but neither was hurt, Burdick said.

Neither they nor the aircraft were connected to AirFest.

The aircraft sustained minor damage. Federal Aviation Administration officials, already on hand for the air show, were looking into the accident, Burdick said.
