— Janesville Parker High School enjoyed Fort Atkinson’s hospitality in a WIAA Division 1 regional baseball opener here Tuesday.

The Vikings scored six unearned runs en route to a 6-0 victory. The Blackhawks committed six errors, while Parker was flawless in the field.

Parker (7-13) travels to Beloit for a regional final at 5 p.m. Friday. The winner plays Janesville Craig or Milton in the Parker sectional semifinals.

While the Vikings cashed in on their opportunities, Fort Atkinson came away empty on two bases-loaded situations. Parker left nine men stranded while Fort stranded 12.

“It was brutal,” said Fort coach Brian McMartin. “We could not come up with the big hit and we made too many mistakes.’’

Parker starting pitcher David Jacobson blanked Fort on seven hits. Jacobson notched three strikeouts and walked three in going the distance.

“Jacobson did get himself into trouble a few times, but he either he made a good pitch or we made a good play behind him,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “He was able to wiggle out of those messes.’’

Fort starter John Kotz took the loss, giving up eight hits and six unearned runs. Kotz notched nine strikeouts and walked three in going the distance.

“Kotz threw a tremendous game,” McMartin said. “He kept Parker off balance, but the guys behind him couldn’t do doodley, dooley, do.’’

Parker scored all the runs it would need on Tyler Teubert’s two-run, two-out single in the fourth inning. Alex Koel walked and Jacobson reached on an error to set up Teubert.

“Tyler’s two runs were big at that point of the game,’’ Martin said. “It was a big hit and it made us relax a little.’’

Parker scored two more runs in the sixth inning on a Fort error. Teubert drew a two-out walk, and Ross Mauermann singled and each scored on the error.

Jacobson smacked a two-out, two-run double in the seventh to seal the deal. Both Vikings runners reached on errors.
