— Two people remained hospitalized this morning after an alcohol-related collision early Sunday morning on Highway 51, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Department.

The wreck occurred at 2:26 a.m. south of Janesville near Townline Road. A minivan collided head-on with a car, according to the sheriff’s department.

Hector Aldamatadeo, 17, of Oregon was driving the car north on Highway 51 when it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the minivan driven by Joshua Krueger, 35 of Janesville, according to the sheriff’s department.

Both drivers were flown by helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where Krueger was listed in critical condition this morning. Aldamatadeo was listed in serious condition.

A passenger in the van, Rachel Randell, 24 of Janesville, was treated at Beloit Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s department.

Aldamatadeo was arrested on a charge of causing injury by drunken driving, while Krueger was cited for drunken driving, according to the sheriff’s department.

I stand to be corrected....When it said the time of the accident was around 2:30am, that was the time of the accident AFTER the clocks had been turned back, which in my world would have been 3:30am. So in the daylight savings time confusion, I thought I had just seen Josh and Rachel 15 mins before the accident happened. In reality the accident happened about an hour and 15 mins after I had last seen them. So since I don't know what they did after I saw them, I cannot be absolutely sure of his level of intoxication at the time of the accident. But from what I have heard, Josh still did not CAUSE the accident. Tremors did not stay open the extra hour so was thinking I had just seen him 15 mins before the accident and I know he was not drunk or heavily intoxicated at that time. I just wanted to clear that up.

Thank you for the update on Josh! We have been getting details from phone calls. Josh is a childhood friend of Jeff's. We saw Josh & Rachel Saturday night when the first got to Tremors. He had not been previously drinking. He was excited to be doing the lighting. Josh takes a lot of pride in his music abilities. We heard this accident on the scanner and said we hope it's not Josh & Rachel. To find out later the next morning it was very disturbing, especially the things heard on the scanner about patient conditions.

Josh & Rachel have 4 beautiful children. We are keeping all of them in our prayers and thoughts.

Please let us know any updates possible.

Condition of Josh- from his cousin

As of yesterday he was still in coma ( not induced coma- he has not waken up as of yet from the accident).
He have several broken bones from his spleen all the ways to his toes. He also has liver and head trama. He will have to have dozens of additonal surgeries to recover, as well as plastic surgery. He can not have visitors in ICU ( only immediate family members) and no phone call information can be given to anyone except Carol and Rudy ( his parents). We all have spent the last few days 80% at the hospital and the other at home worring just as you all have. We cannot say what the outcome will be its on a hour to hour basis and we are just praying he makes it through it.

Thank you for your prayers!

Aaron...the last I heard he is still in a coma and he had had 3 surgeries done from the time he got to the hospital til 4pm that afternoon. This info came from the guy he was working with that night so I am sure it is pretty authentic information. From what I understand without going into all the gruesome details, he is not in very good shape. I am sure they will probably keep him in a drug-induced coma for awhile regardless. Let's just all pray!!!

I want to help clear something up. I was at the bar with Josh and Rachel that night and I just want everybody to know that Josh was not out "getting drunk"...he was WORKING. He was doing the lighting for the band at the bar that night. In order to do that you cannot be "drunk". I am not disputing the fact that Josh had alcohol in his system or what the BAC was, but Josh was clearly not "DRUNK" as most people think of as "drunk". He did only have a couple of beers that night...I personally only saw him drink two beers from 10pm til bartime, and yes, I was back at the sound/lighting station that whole time cuz my friends boyfriend does the sound for the band so that is where we hang out. No, I wasn't too "drunk" to know what I'm talking about, as I am not much of a drinker myself and only had one drink from 10-bartime. If he had any beer before I got there, I do not know, but I did only see him have just the two beers from 10-2. I talked to him just 15 mins before the accident happened. He was clearly not "drunk". He showed absolutely NO SIGNS of being anywhere near "drunk" or even intoxicated for that matter. He had no slurred speach, was walking and acting and functioning perfectly fine, did not have glassy or hazy eyes. I don't condone drunk driving whatsoever, but I can assure all of you that Josh did not cause or contribute to this accident due to his BAC. I clearly understand the law as it is written and there does have to be a limit somewhere, but for those of you who want to judge and point fingers just bcuz it is reported as two drunk drivers have head-on collision, it is very clear to me who was the one who CAUSED the accident and Josh did not CAUSE or CONTRIBUTE to this accident happening. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could have been any sober person or even YOU at that spot and the 17 y/o would have crossed the centerline and ran into them/YOU instead. My heart goes out to all involved, and I do not believe Josh has any explaining to do to his children for what happened. Let's all just pray he pulls thru this so he is able to be with Rachel and his children again and quit judging him the way you are when you really don't know.

So what the heck is going on with Josh? I'm one of his oldest best friends and I just found out about this. No one is answering the phone and the hospital won't tell me anything. I'm not going to drive down there at 10pm. Someone please have them call Aaron I left a number at the hospital. Also I saw Josh RIGHT before he left that night, he was running the lights for the show at Tremors and hardly drinking at all, you don't have time to do that doing that.

Ok I want to justify my self... I have a friend who was at the bar that night with Joshua and she saw him leave and he was clearly not intoxicated. This was a horrible accident and I feel badly for his family and the average of .08 is 2 drinks. MY thoughts and prayers are with Joshua's family they never deserved to have this happen to them and I dont want to say what I have to say about the 17 year old.

Suzy50, I am so very sorry to find out about Josh this way. He and Rachel are friends of ours. If you could please let Rachel and his family know we are keeping him in our prayers I would appreciate it. And people please, keep in mind that this could happen to anyone at any time and they are good people with a family of small children to care for. I hope he comes out of this and recovers fully. As for the kid who hit him, I realize that you will want to rake him over the coals for what he has done, but it was an accident and his life is also in the balance now because of it. Instead of bashing both families, at this time let's just pray for their recovery instead. Both families stand a lot to lose if they don't.

If your going to put in the story put in the entire story! My cousin is Josh and even though he had been drinking he was only a percent over the limit, but the 17 year old who by the way did not have a valid drivers license was 4 times over the legal limit!!!!! The 17 year old went across the centerline and hit my cousin so get the story straight and have some compassion for my cousin who is in critical condtion and may not make it out or wake up out of coma!! By the way my cousin also has 4 children and and wonderful girlfriend that also need comfort not more grief!!

k_atie_e: You obviously are very misinformed about 2 drinks making everyone .08 BAC. The amount of alcohol a person consumes to get to a .08 varies for everyone.

I see a lot of you are judging Joshua as drunk well you know that the legal limit is .08 which is only two drinks so how many of you have driven home after eating out at a restaurant and had 2 drinks with your dinner. That made you drunk and if that kid crossed the centerline and hit you would you want people judging you??

How do you know they didn't charge the person that provided alcohol for the 17 y/o? People are too quick to criticize without knowing the whole story.

what's this....both drivers were drunk? And the police charged both of them? WAY TO GO RCSD for detecting that both were legally too drunk to drive. How about charging the person that gave the 17 yr old the alcohol?
